New Post: So what's happening?

First of all, let me apologise that this project seems to have been quiet for so long. It hasn't been abandoned, far from it, it's just that we've been swamped over the summer period and then some things came up at the start of the Autumn that kept us away from the code base.

Anyway, what exactly is happening with the project?

Well, the big news of the summer would have to be the release of Visual Studio 2012. Unfortunately, the CodeStash addin hasn't been compiled up for this version of VS, so that's going to be one of the priorities.

Secondly, there are a couple of niggles and bugs where the interface just doesn't feel quite right to me, so we'll be sorting those out pronto.

As part of this process, the UI is going to move from being heavily MVC to much more MVVM. That's right - Knockout.js is going to make an appearance (look out for at least one article on this on Code Project). I'm also going to add the ability for a user to select which team(s) they want snippets to be visible to - that's currently one of the glaring "plotholes" so to speak.

In Visual Studio 2010 SP1

If I right click on a code window and choose codestash => CodeStash website. I get the following error message

"Cannot Start process because a file name has not been provided."

otherwise great tool! it has helped me a lot lately!
Comments: For some reason, the website address in the config file has been removed. I've fixed that and reuploaded the addin to the Extension manager. Good to go.

Closed Issue: Logged off users have rights [8]

Logged off users can see any code snippets when clicking on the tag cloud.

Logged off users can search for code using the search function and view the code via the popup screen.

Logged off users can mark or rate code snippets
Comments: The tags have been tightened up. Logged off users cannot rate code now.

I can vote on snippets in codestash while not logged on
Comments: Sorted. I've updated the code to check the user to see if they are logged in. If they aren't, they can't vote.

Not sure if it is an issue or something by design. but I searched on "Sacha Barber weakreference" for some research on the weakreference topic and instantly gained access to the snippet without logging on

Comments: This is by design. I've now added support for being able to search and view public snippets without being logged in. This is the first step in something larger we're planning with the site.

Well my friend, a simple 1 line fix has sorted the VB/VB.NET issue out. That's checked in and uploaded to the live site. I will be looking into the other sides now.

Hi Pete,

Firstly hope your break was good. Secondly I'm glad my feedback is welcomed.

I look forward to seeing the next version with the new additions / fixes. It is coming along nicely. Cant wait for the CP integration.

I would be very happy to assist reviewing any further releases and trying out the site again.
